About
Tammy Kanat is a Melbourne-based fibre artist and weaver whose practice explores the interplay of colour, rhythm, and balance. Beginning her creative journey as a jewellery designer, Kanat brings a deep understanding of harmony, form, and composition into her textile work. She approaches each piece with a sense of curiosity and playfulness, allowing intuition to guide her through every decision — from colour selection to the movement of warp and weft.
Her process is fluid and rhythmic, never forced or overly planned, which gives each work a distinctive sense of presence and flow. Through this instinctive approach, Kanat’s pieces take on a life of their own — expressive, embodied, and emotionally resonant.
Represented by Gallery Sally Dan Cuthbert.
