Homecoming

"The exhibition is an act of inhabiting, of layering presence upon place: a home infused with a universe of ideas, encounters, and artistic life. It is both residence and gathering, studio and stage, workshop and dialogue—a space where creation and conversation meet. The show aims to embed the new home with the universe he envisions—one that is at once a residence, a gathering place for conversation, exchange, and workshops, and a studio for artists seeking a space to work.
Drawing from the 19th-century salon as a site of intellectual exchange and poetry, and the 20th-century studio as a locus of solitary artistic creation and experimentation, Arndt Family Residence and Private Art Space embraces a contemporary hybrid model: a space where making and gathering intersect.
Homecoming stages a poetic space, in the spirit of Elytis, who once lived there, inhabited by artworks and gestures that navigate the thresholds between intimacy and publicity, word and image, past and future. Participating artists explore themes such as the domestic as a site, everyday rituals, and the translation of poetic form into artistic practice." —Polina Kosmadaki
